Enzo Smits

Enzo Smits (Belgium, 1988) obtained a Master in Audiovisual Arts at LUCA School of Arts with the film All We Ever Wanted Was Everything. His 2016 short It Won’t Be Long Now was part of the documentary series 4x7 by Belgian tv-channel Canvas. In recent years he published two graphic novels with illustrator Ward Zwart. His latest short Daysleeper premiered at Film Fest Gent in October 2022. The teenager’s gaze, youth- and subculture are recurring themes in his work.

It is a hot summer in Brussels, and the days slowly melt into each other. Like every other teenager trapped in the smoldering city, Ilyas spends most of his time hanging in the park with his friends and wandering the empty streets. One night, when walking home alone, he finds a stray horse. An unexpected encounter that changes the course of his summer.
