American underground artist George Kuchar is known for his low-fi aesthetic. He has directed over two hundred films and videos. Hold Me While I'm Naked reached 52nd place in The Village Voice’s Critic's Poll in 2000.

Kuchar’s work influenced the late 1970s and early 1980s No Wave Cinema movement in New York: filmmaking with little preparation, often resulting in a dark and edgy atmosphere. Hold Me While I’m Naked has something meta in that respect: a frustrated independent film director tries to make a film with artistic value. Above all, his sexual frustration prevails.
